Kigali Serena Hotel has started a swimming school for children between the ages of 6-10 years to develop water safety techniques and promote swimming as a sport in Rwanda.According to officials, the school has already started with 30 pioneer children. Abdul Karim Mwaka, the in charge of swimming said the school’s objective is to improve the swimming culture in Rwanda, starting with children."The school will offer training, tests and certificates from 1- 2nd level which will authorize children to go for any competitions out side the country,” he said.He said it is good to swim at a tender age because this helps children to exploit their full potential."Many people regard swimming as just a luxury done to pass time or maybe to have fun, but it is also a profession,” Mwaka said.He called on the Ministry of Sports and Culture to look into the idea of putting up an Olympic-size swimming pool in the country.
