Liberal Party (PL) spent Wednesday in Rwamagana District ahead of the September  16 Parliamentary poll.Addressing hundreds of supporters in the area, the party deputy president, Francois Byabarumwanzi, said they would push for more economic reforms once they have the numbers in Parliament."Our commitment to Rwandans has never wavered. We need numbers in parliament if we are to achieve our goals. Freedom, justice and development for all is what we stand for in PL,” he said.Addressing the rally, aspiring candidates promised to serve the people diligently once elected to Parliament.Donatille Mukabalisa, one of the candidates reiterated the party’s commitment to spur the country’s economic  development."The party’s record is clear.Before and after the 1994 Genocide, we helped the country to move forward. So, when we solicit for votes people understand what we mean,” she said.Mukabalisa urged Rwamagana residents to vote for PL candidates, saying they will push for more economic growth.Paul Maniraho, 64, a businessman in the district, said his support for the party was due to its history.  "PL has been a consistent party. I remember its resistance during the dark days of our country. They have been steadfast in working for the people. We assure them maximum support during the elections,” he said.There are eight political parties that are vying for the 53 seats that are being contested through universal adult suffrage.Other parties in the race include, the RPF-led coalition which includes Ideal Democratic Party (PDI), Parti Socialiste Rwandais (PSR), Parti du Progrès et la Concorde (PPC) and Centrist Democratic Party (PDC). Others are PS-Imberakuri and PSD.
