PS Imberakuri party is promising to make positive changes mainly in the education and health sectors, if given the mandate in the next Parliament.

Speaking at a rally in Kaborondo sector, Kayonza District on Tuesday, the party’s president Christine Mukabunani said their goal is to ensure improved social welfare for all Rwandans.

She added that the party would also address issues affecting vulnerable students to access university education through a communal education fund says it will create once elected.

"Our party will advocate for this kind of fund, which will operate more like Mutuelle de Sante so that even the poor access higher education. Also health insurance system needs some reforms so that it doesn’t burden the poor,” said Mukabunani, who is candidate number 1 on the list submitted to the electoral commission by PS Imberakuri. 

Expectations  

She said that she was optimistic her party would sail through well in the September 16 elections.

Residents of Rusera village danced to the tune of the party’s songs, braving  the scotching sun.

Nadine Uwimana, 32, a mother of three, said the party’s plans were convicting enough to attract voters.

"Education and health are key issues in our communities...whoever talks about improving the two wins the hearts of the people. So, I will vote for this party because of that,” she said.

Adolph Mbonimana, a resident of the area, however, expressed pessimism, saying that politicians are fond of making empty promises.

"I will exercise my civic right to vote but promises cannot influence my choice,” he said.

The campaigns are expected to run up to September 15.
