President Kagame will today join Presidents Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya and Yoweri Museveni of Uganda for what is dubbed ‘the Second Infrastructure Summit’ in Mombasa, Kenya.The meeting is a follow up to the inaugural trilateral meeting held in Entebbe, Uganda in June this year aimed at accelerating regional infrastructure development to hasten socio-economic development in the region.To ensure faster implementation, responsibilities have been shared with Uganda committing to lead the railway development and political federation agenda, Rwanda to lead on the Single Customs Territory, Single Tourist Visa and use of East African Community National identity card  projects while Kenya is to spearhead the implementation of the oil pipeline and electricity generation.Kagame and Museveni are also scheduled to join their Kenyan counterpart on the official launch of a Ksh5.6 billion ($66.7 million) Berth number 19 at Mombasa port, the space where ships dock or anchor as they are offloaded or loaded. The new berth is expected to raise the port’s capacity by 33 per cent.Kagame is accompanied to the Mombasa meeting by Ministers Louise Mushikiwabo, (Foreign Affairs) Prof. Silas Lwakabamba (Infrastructure), Amb Claver Gatete (Finance), National Coordinator of the Tripartite Initiative, Monique Mukaruliza, and Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Yamina Karitanyi.The summit will evaluate progress made by each country and will be followed with a third meeting scheduled for Kigali in October.
