NGOMA — The Ngoma district Director of Schools has asked primary school head teachers to design measures to fight genocide ideology among students.

Victor Jemadari made the call while meeting all head teachers of both government and private schools at the district headquarters on Tuesday.

Jemadari observed that there are some teachers who don’t approach the pupils to listen to their problems yet sometimes their problems may be associated to genocide ideology.

"Head teachers need to be close to pupils in order to build close cooperation,” he said.

He further told teachers to always brief pupils before breaking off for their holidays and every time they report for new term.

"When pupils get to their respective homes, they meet many people with mixed characters.

They might come back changed people with genocide ideologies and this is why you should always counsel them,” Jemadari said.

He called for formation of anti-Genocide clubs and to empower the already existing clubs to enhance their efforts.

The meeting aimed at assessing the performance of second term, establish teachers who have left service and design methods of taking back pupils who had dropped out.

Jemadari called on teachers to work together with villages, cells and sector leaders to see that all school age-going pupils are enrolled in school.
