Babil Group of Companies, a Turkish construction firm, is planning to start a football academy in Rwanda with a view to help nurture a generation of talented players.Mustafa Cem, the company’s head of international development, told Times Sport yesterday, "I am thinking of setting up an academy because of a passionate football fan, we feel setting up an academy would make a huge impact as far as development of Rwandan football is concerned.” "We intend to nurture a young and exciting generation of football stars, who have the right exposure to the soccer world. I would love to see Rwandan players among top players on the African continent and I believe this country is capable of producing top-level footballers,” Mustafa said.He added that their target is to play a part in the development of Rwandan football and sports in general.Recently, Babil Group of Companies and Rwanda Football Federation reached an agreement to sponsor the inaugural Super Cup to a tune of Rwf25 million.The inaugural Super Cup match will pit Primus league champions Rayon Sports and Peace Cup winners AS Kigali on September 1 at Amahoro national stadium.The winner will walk away with Rwf5 million with the loser taking home Rwf2 million. The rest of the money will go into organising the event.
