Arsenal will not win anything with its current policy

Arsenal has gone eight seasons without winning any silverware in England and Europe and unfortunately the status-quo doesn’t appear like changing anytime soon until the club changes its transfer policy to match their opponents.Without disregarding Arsenal’s top four aspirations, the club management should be targeting higher ambitions that just qualifying for Champions League. In such circumstances, it’s the fans, especially those who make direct contribution to the club by buying season tickets, who suffer the agony the most. Many Arsenal fans must be tired of being served on empty promises from manager Arsene Wenger, who promises big things every season only to deliver so little in terms of silverware. The Gunners’ lack of success since their last piece of silverware, the FA Cup in 2005, can be attributed to a number of factors but the main should the club’s tight transfer policy, which doesn’t allow the manager to buy world class players, who come at a high cost.Since winning the last league title in 2004, the London side have been relying  on fringe players and as a result, Arsenal, one of the famous clubs in England and Europe, are seeing their reputation fade gradually.Wenger has been struggling to replace gifted top players like Thierry Henry, Dennis Berkamp, Pires, Ashley Cole and most recently Fabregas, Nasir, Kolo Toure and Robin Vern Persie.A top manager like Wenger should be able to scout potential players early but he is always very hesitant and confident in his current transfer policy.Good players are always available on affordable prices early in the summer and not only this but also clubs tend to negotiate with potential targets in advance. This is why some clubs tend to make a quick shift to replace departing players. This policy has worked for clubs like Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Borrussia Dortmund and Real Madrid.  Good clubs have good transfer policies, which means they do not wait to lose heavily in a game so as to decide when and how many players to bring in for enforcements. For example two seasons ago, Manchester United demolished Arsenal with a score of 7-2 in a Premier League game in the first month of the season. It prompted the Arsenal manager to swiftly take action that saw him sign five players of whom the majority failed to perform to the team’s standard.Only Santi Cazorla has been a consistent performer in the midfield role but the likes of Andres Santos and Gervinho have not been found wanting and as so the club deemed them surplus to requirements and allowed to move on.Arsenal need a natural goal scorer in the mould of Germany international Mario Gomez, who has joined Serie A side Fiorentina from European champions Bayern Munich.Gomez has a very good eye for goals; he always delivered consistently during his time at Bayern. He is a player capable of scoring more than20 goals a season and this is what Arsenal needs.French striker Olivier Giroud signed from Montpellier last season has proved a flop. He has struggled to score goals in England and only managed 10 goals last season.Arsenal seems to have lost battle in their pursuit of Uruguayan Luis Suarez from Liverpool. Even highly gifted Luis Gustavo chose Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg over Arsenal! The now ex-Bayern midfielder would be a great addition and would form a great link with the likes of Jack Wilshire and Cazorla. If Arsenal go another season with winning anything or fail to qualify for the Champions League this season, the club could face more exoduses. The likes of Wilshire, Theo Walcott and Carzola could be the next to head for the exit door.
