Tusker Project Fame Season six (TPF6) auditions start today. The two-day auditions kick off at 8am at Sports View hotel in Remera. The auditions will close tomorrow evening.  The jury will be comprised of local musicians Ruth Nirere, alias Shanel, who is currently pursuing a course in music in Germany and Aline Gahongayire, a renowned gospel singer. Kenyan actor and famous Tusker Project Fame judge, Ian Mbagua will also be part of the panel of judges. "We have learnt and corrected different mistakes that happened in last five editions and changed them to produce the best vocalist in Africa in 2013,” said Mbugua in one of his Facebook posts while commenting about this year’s competition.Tusker Project Fame is a music talent competition which creates the opportunity of a lifetime for East Africa’s naturally gifted individuals to end up becoming music superstars.This year, music groups are allowed to audition for the talent search. Contestants should be 21 years of age and above. A skill at playing any music instrument is an added advantage. This year’s TPF will have contestants from Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, South Sudan, Burundi and Tanzania.The lucky winners from the auditions will be taken to the performance Academy in Nairobi, where they will live throughout the duration of the competition. They will be trained and coached into becoming music professionals by members of the Faculty. The Faculty is a group of music professionals whose main responsibility is to teach and train the contestants.Each Sunday the contestants will all perform. After their individual performances, the judges and members of the faculty will comment and afterwards members of the public get to vote for the contestant who they think had the best performance. Voting starts from Sunday at 8pm and ends on Saturday at 4pm.The four contestants are however given another chance to perform again. Afterwards, the judges, the contestants and the faculty save one contestant each. The contestant who isn’t saved at all is automatically eliminated. This is the same format the show will go with until a winner emerges in three months time.Next Saturday is the elimination show where the four contestants with the lowest public votes will be up for eviction.This year the winner of Tusker Project Fame goes home with a recording contract with South Africa’s Universal Music Group and cash prize of Ksh5million (approximately Rwf35m). After auditions in all the participating countries, the annual regional music contest will officially kick off in September.Rwanda has been represented in the previous competitions, with Alpha Rwirangira winning the Tusker Project Fame season three and the TPF All Stars. Alpha Rwirangira, Nina, Christian Rwirangira, Jackson Kalimba and Gaelle Atete have represented Rwanda at the talent search.
