The 2013 Genocide Memorial tournament winners, Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Education of Kibungo (Inatek) dominated the 17th NSSF-KAVC International volleyball tournament, which ended on Sunday in the Ugandan capital Kampala.Making only their second appearance in the annual event, the Ngoma-based side beat Kenya Administration Police 3-1 (25-14, 25-20, 24-26 and 25-13) in the final of the two-day competition at Lugogo stadium.Several of Inatek’s players also won individual honours, including libero Bosco Mutabazi, right attacker Christopher Mukunzi, best setter Elve Kagimbura and Olivier Ntagengwa, who was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.This year’s event attracted teams from Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda.It is Inatek’s first NSSF-KAVC title."We are proud and this is manifestation of our dedicated team work,” head coach Dominic Ntawanga Sesonga told Times Sport from Kampala.He added, "My players gave all to win this tournament as it was our purpose, so I am happy to win this tournament, and most importantly, I am very happy with the performance of the players."I must be the happiest coach right now,” an evidently excited Ntawangundi noted.Inatek joins two other Rwandan teams, Kigali Volleyball Club (three-times winners) and Blue Tigers (2004), as winners of the regional tournament.Meanwhile, Uganda’s Nkumba University beat compatriots and tournament organisers KAVC 3-2 (25-20, 22-25, 25-13, 17-25, 15-13) to lift the women’s title.
