Visiting Karate expert, Frenchman Sensei Patrick Dupeaux concluded his one-week tour of Rwanda on Saturday as the Rwanda Karate Federation hailed his tour as another milestone toward the development of the sport in the country.The experienced karate master arrived in the country on August 3 and held training sessions for 170 karatekas including three women, a brown belt holder and two-dan holders.The 57-year-old Dupeaux concluded his visit with examinations to candidates willing to obtain new belts with four 3-dan holders passing exams for their fourth dan."We (Ferwaka) are really happy to host an internationally recognised expert for a whole week and from what transpired during his stay, I am glad to note that our karatekas have gained a lot from his lectures,” Ferwaka’s Technical Director Didier Guy Rurangayire told Times Sport.He noted that it was a rare opportunity for Rwandan karatekas to learn from one of the sport’s biggest names, Dupeaux, who has been a master in Wado-Ryu since 1984.
