Ayaz Khan hit a blazing half century and picked three wickets as Kigali Cricket Club defeated Right Guards to secure its first win in this year’s Sulfo League.

The middle order batsman took KCC past 150 after hitting a quick 51 off just 26 balls. He had a 94-run partnership with stand-in captain Rizwan Pandor (69) to help the record four-time champions to a defendable score of 206.

The pair was later dismissed by Guards’ spin bowler Dennis Mukama who picked five wickets to reward the club with a bonus point, its first point of the league. Responding to KCC’s score, Right Guards were bowled out for a paltry 135 in just 28 overs.

Khan picked three wickets while Rwanda’s international Mohammad Jasat and Reddy Gopal took two wickets a piece.

Emma Byiringiro and youngster Desiré Manirambona top scored for Guards with 28 and 19 respectively.
