AMAVUBI Stars forward Meddie Kagere is set to seal a professional move to Lebanese Premier League side Safa Sporting Club provided trials and talks with the club are successful.

Kagere, who left yesterday for Lebanon, is confident on realizing his dream to play professional football.

He told Sunday Sport in a brief statement yesterday, "I am leaving anytime to Lebanese side Safa Sporting club.”

The unsettled Uganda-born striker has been left out of next week’s Fifa friendly match against Malawi by coach Eric Nshimiyimana, which will be played at Amahoro stadium on Wednesday.

Last month, the former Atraco, Mukura and Kiyovu Sports underwent trials in South Africa with PSL new comers Mpumalanga Black Aces is still waiting for the outcome.

The 27-year -old, who failed trials at Bidvest Wits and Turls last season is trying his luck for a professional career before the end of this month.

The Rwandan international talisman has spent three seasons at Police, scoring 38 goals in three Primus League seasons.

"I have always dreamt of playing for big professional team because it will help my development,” he added. The striker is expected to spend five days on trial.

Founded in 1939, Safa’ Beirut SC (Nadi al-Safa’ al-Riyadi Beirut) has won the Lebanese Premier League twice in 2011-12 and 2012-13, the Lebanese FA Cup three times, 1964-65, 1986-87 and 2012-13, and Lebanese Elite Cup two times, 2008-09 and 2011-12

If efforts to secure a professional move fall through, the soft spoken forward will have no choice but to return home and plan accordingly.

League champions Rayon Sports and his former team Police FC have expressed interest in signing the striker, who is Rwanda’s top scorer in the on-going 2014 world Cup qualifiers with three goals in five matches played so far.
