RwandAir has postponed the planned launch of flights to Juba from August 3 to September 3, John Mirenge, the RwandAir chief executive officer, said in a statement.

Mirenge said the launch was rescheduled so the airline could first sort out ‘operational issues’. 

"We have postponed the Juba flight launch after assessing our operational readiness…we have engaged all departments to look into the best possible alternatives to support passengers before September,” he said.

Mirenge noted that they had put in place mechanisms to respond to any inconveniences that could result from the postponement, especially for passengers who had already booked. 

"Many passengers looked forward to this launch as reported from the number of confirmed bookings gathered from travel partners and the sales support teams”.  

Juba will be RwandAir’s 15th destination since it rebranded in 2009. The airline recently launched direct flights to Accra, Ghana.

RwandAir serves one domestic destination, and regional destinations including Nairobi, Entebbe, Mombasa, Bujumbura, Dar es Salaam, and Kilimanjaro. 

The airline also serves Johannesburg, Dubai, Lagos, Accra, Libreville and Brazzaville.
