First aid is the first help given to an injured person. When children play everyday, anything can be expected especially when playing with sharp instruments that can cut.

Accidents can be prevented by avoiding such very sharp materials. However when you happen to cut yourself, you should be in a position to stop the bleeding especially if there is no responsible older person to help you.

Wash your hands very well with soap and water, because germs could infect the cut, and then wash the wound too. Germs can easily infect all open wounds so remember to cover the wound with a clean cloth or bandage. This is very important for stopping the bleeding.

The moment a responsible and mature person comes home, tell them to take you to hospital or the nearest clinic. Parents and teachers should always keep first aid kits in homes and at school. It is important that you keep them in places that everyone is aware of.
