AMAVUBI Stars forward Meddie Kagere is currently without a club after his contract with Police FC ran out at the end of last season yet the player has not given up his dream of turning professional.Speaking to Times Sport on Monday, the Uganda-born striker said that despite not having a club at the moment he is still in position to realise his dream of playing professional football.Last month he went for trials in South Africa with PSL new comers Mpumalanga Black Aces. "My trials in South Africa went well, and I am still waiting for the results,” he revealed, before adding, "I trust my agents, who are looking for the right club for me next season.”"If the out come of my trials goes well, I will travel to sign the contract anytime because I badly want to join professional ranks outside, but if not I will look for another club here in the country,” he explained.The 27-year -old, who failed trials at Bidvest Wits and Turls last season, noted that he will continue to try his luck at professional career but if he fails, he will ‘happily’ sign for a local club."I always think about playing in big teams especially in South Africa because, it has one of the best leagues in Africa, which also pays well,” he added.On the local scene, rumour has it that league champions, Rayon Sports are keen on signing the former Police forward, but the player admitted he would only sign for a local club if his South African dream fell flat. "I have told them (Rayon Sports) to wait because I have to wait for my results from the test I did in South Africa, I have not closed the door on any club.”The Rwanda international spent three seasons at Police FC, scoring 38 league goals, and he has since become a regular for Amavubi.The former Atraco, Kiyovu SC and Mukura Victory Sport striker is the country’s top scorer in the on-going 2014 World Cup qualifiers with three goals in five matches played so far.Meanwhile, Rayon Sports are yet to finalise the signing of Burundian striker Abdul Razak Fiston as his team Lydia wants US$18, 000 (about Rwf12m)."We can’t sign him for that amount, and if they are not ready to reduce the amount we will look at other options,” Rayon Sports SG Olivier Gakwaya said.
