LUBUMBASHI. TP Mazembe striker Mbwana Samatta continued his goal-a-game run in the Confederation Cup as his side beat Morocco’s FUS Rabat 3-0.The Tanzanian grabbed the second goal after 12 minutes after Ghana international Solomon Asante had opened the scoring for the DR Congo champions. The former African champions made sure of all three points in Group B when Malian Cheibane Traore found the target 10 minutes after half-time.Mazembe’s French coach Patrice Carteron had begun the game with an attacking line-up that as well as the three goalscorers included Tresor Mputu Mabi and Rainford Kalaba. The 21-year-old Samatta now has four goals in this year’s competition, having scored in both legs of a play-off triumph over Liga Muculmana of Mozambique after Mazembe dropped down following a Champions League loss. He was also on target again away to Entente Setif of Algeria in a game that ended 1-1.Home advantage makes Bizertin slight favourites over Setif in the other game in the group which is a clash of clubs who conquered Africa 25 years ago.Setif recovered from a first-leg loss to crush Iwuanyanwu Nationale - now Heartland - 4-1 overall and lift the African Champions Cup.Bizertin also faced Nigerian opposition, edging Ranchers Bees 1-0 over two legs in the African Cup Winners Cup decider.Saint George of Ethiopia and CS Sfaxien of Tunisia are away in Group A after both made winning starts two weeks ago.Omod Okury and Fitsum Gebrmariam scored the early and late goals as George defeated Stade Malien of Mali 2-0 in Addis Ababa. And Ivorian Idrissa Kouyate netted the lone goal of a Tunisian derby against Etoile Sahel, who had Cameroonian Franck Kom sent off.The ‘Saints’, the only contenders not to have won a Confedration of African Football title, visit 2006 Confederation Cup winners Etoile Sahel of Tunisia.Shock 2009 title-holders Stade Malien host Sfaxien, who one year earlier became the only club to successfully defend the trophy.
