Rwandan Entertainers and Musicians Organisation (REMO), local umbrella of performing artistes, will today award artistes and all people involved in various activities aimed at promoting the music industry and entertainment in the country and particularly in Northern Province.REMO aims at promoting and advocating for artistes and musicians while helping their arts and songs to be known by many.Six district mayors will be given awards for the freedom and moral support they offered to the musicians and artistes. These mayors to be awarded include the Mayor of Musanze, Gakenke, Rulindo, Burera, Gicumbi, all of Northern Province as well as the Mayor of Nyabihu district from Western province. The governor of the Northern Province Aime Bosenibamwe will also be given a special award.Other people to be awarded are local journalists, local Music producers and street promoters as well as musicians from their respective districts who emerged best performers from each category.Veteran musician Abdoul Makanyaga, Knowless Butera, Bull Dog, Fireman, TBB and Young Grace among others are expected to entertain the guests at the award ceremony.According to Patrick Uwineza the vice president of REMO, the music industry could not have developed without the support of local leaders and promoters. "We are thankful because we have good leadership even though it is difficult to measure the role local leaders are playing to promote music but we know it is huge,"The fact that we are free to do what we wish and we are given total freedom as well as financial and moral support is enough to recognise their contribution,” said Uwineza
