RWANDA School Sports Federation (RSSF) believes the national team has the ability to win this year’s East African Post Primary Games (FEASSA) scheduled for August 20-30 in Lira, Northern Uganda.

Last year, a big Rwandan delegetion failed to make any positive impact in the regional games as they returned back empty-handed.

Unlike last year, the RSSF Technical Director Aaron Rurangirwa believes early preparations will help the national team stage successful performances in Uganda.

"We have started early preparations to help all teams gear up for the upcoming championship. We want to erase the past poor show in Burundi and bounce back with good finishing in this year’s edition,”

"We believe the teams have potential of ruling the region and if I am to go with the determination shown by the different teams, I believe the national team will deliver success in Uganda,” added Rurangirwa.

The different schools which make up the national team started intensive training at their different schools across the country mid last month.

Rwanda will be represented by nineteen school teams which will compete in the annual regional tournament in six sports.

The teams include APE Rugunga and ESI Gisenyi (boys’ football), Saint Joseph Kabgayi and Lycee de Nyanza (boys’ volleyball), Lycee de Kigali Collede Amis des Enfants (boys’ basketball), ES kigoma and Saint Aloys Rwamagana (boys’ handball), ET Mukingi in rugby (boys) and GS Gahini in netball (girls).

Others are: Solidarity academy and APAER kabuga (girls’ football), ET Mukingi and APAPEKI Cyuru (girls’ handball), GS indangaburezi and Saint Joseph Kabgayi (girls’ volleyball), APE Rugunga (girls’ basketball and two athletics teams (boys and girls), each team will be made up of twenty athletes.
