RWANDA Football Federation [Ferwafa] is planning to engage Amavubi team in an international friendly match against Malawi’s The Flames on August 14.

The development was confirmed yesterday by Ferwafa chief Celestin Ntagungira a.k.a Abegga in an interview with Times Sport.

He said, "We are in talks with Malawi football federation to see whether we can engage the national team in a Fifa friendly match,”

"Nothing has materialised but our aim is to ensure that Amavubi gets a competitive match ahead of September’s final Group H qualifier against Benin,” added Ntagungira.

Amavubi were ejected out of the Africa Nations Championships finals by Ethiopia with a 6-5 penalty loss after both sides tied 1-1 on aggregate.

After losing three matches and drawing twice, Rwanda lies bottom of Group H with two points.

Their next month opponents who have also been ejected out of the final qualifying round Benin, lie third with five points respectively.

Algeria will be seeking a win against Mali to be granted passage into the play-offs where ten teams will be paired into five home-and-away series.

The five teams that win their respective series will qualify for the 2014 World Cup.
