A large crowd Friday attended the opening of a new play,‘The Monument’ the Kigali. The play, written by Canadian Collen Wegner and produced by Isoko, an NGO that aims to promote, actors in Rwanda, depicts the social strife and the road to reconciliation in the aftermath of a civil war.

Colleen Wegner explained that the play aims to build social life that is always lost in war situation. She condemned revenge saying that "you can’t do evil to heal evil”.

The two-character play, about the relationship between a soldier and a woman whose daughter was raped and murdered during a war, raises relevant issues for post-Genocide Rwanda.

Nandita Dinesh, the Isoko coordinator, said that there is a need in Rwanda to educate the public on how to put right what has gone wrong.

Dinesh thanked the government of Rwanda for the efforts of reconciling people after the Genocide.

‘The Monument’ starring Kinyarwanda actors Jean Paul Uwayezu and Jaqueline Umubyeyi, is to tour Rwanda in the coming weeks.
