Masaka Sector has emerged the best in Kicukiro District in the implemention of the performance contracts (Imihigo) of the year 2012/2013.The sector scored 97.9 per cent in implementing performance contracts related to stimulating economic growth, improving social welfare and good governance. Kanombe Sector came second with 96.3 per cent while Gahanga scored 88.3 per cent."The fact that all sectors scored above 88 is testimony that all sectors actually performed well. It is good to strengthen relations with our main partners in development, the citizens, so as to keep on performing well,” said Kicukiro mayor, Paul Jules Ndamage during an awarding ceremony on Wednesday.Ndamage appreciated the achievements by Masaka sector, giving an example of Rusheshe Cell which he said made significant progress in one year. He said that Rusheshe got electricity, market and modern houses, among other infrastructure.The Executive Secretary of Masaka, Roger Rurangirwa Ndoba, said team work, close collaboration with the citizens and a sense of ownership of Imihigo implementation, were their secret.Ndoba told The New Times his sector had increased agricultural productivity through different activities such as banana rehabilitation, consolidation of 300- ha of land, and bringing seeds close to farmers.Regarding social welfare, Ndoba said the sector, in collaboration with the residents, have inaugurated clean water serving a population on 25 km, and provided 20 houses to the most vulnerable each costing Rwf 9 million.Kicukiro District was last year named best performer in implementation of performance contracts among the thirty districts of Rwanda.
