Hundreds who turned up for the launch of Virunga Mist beer were given a red carpet treatment as they entered Club Next, the venue for the launch Wednesday evening. The event that started rather on a dull note resulted into an ecstatic moment for Rwanda’s party animals as they sang along and danced to the live performance by the Paco band. The band’s talented vocal artistes did justice to the event as they performed both local and international songs in the Reggae and R&B genres. While unveiling the new beer, Johan Je Smet-Van Jamme, the general manager for Skol brewery Rwanda and commercial director for Africa, said they wanted to bring something of quality to the Rwandans and also give it a name with a Rwandan identity as it also depicts the country’s nature. Virunga Mist is the third beer brand the company has launched after the market success of Skol and Gatuna, respectively. Virunga Mist is a dark ale type of beer, fermented with malt, cereals and hops with a 6.5 percent alcohol volume. It’s available across the country at the recommended retail price of Rwf600. The event was organised by R.G. Consult in partnership with Ikobe Beauty Company.
