Northern Province-based Gicumbi Football Club is planning to use a budget of Rfw50m in upcoming Primus National Football League season which kicks off in September, club chairman, Fidele Byiringiro has told Saturday Sports. However, despite operating on a relatively small budget compared to their rivals in the top flight division, Byiringiro is buoyant that the new comers will achieve their targets.Gicumbi, formerly known as Zebre between 2000 and 2005 before they were relegated from the top flight division, shocked favourites Sunrise FC to gain promotion back to the National Football league where they hope to be a permanent fixture."We have come up with what we believe is a sufficient enough budget for the upcoming season, and we want the team to get everything they want in order to achieve our first target of staying in the league next season,” said Byiringiro. The team’s main sponsors are Gicumbi District but the club management is looking elsewhere for more funds to supplement what it gets from the district.
