Primus Guma Guma SuperStar season III music competition lived up to its expectations with the last road show held in Rubavu district over the weekend attracting a huge turn up of music fans from the Western Province.People started filling up the playground opposite Tam Tam beach by 11am even though the artistes appeared on stage at 2pm to churn out impressive live performances to the delight of the thousands that attended.Knowless was the first on stage performing two songs with a well-choreographed group of dancers supporting her as she did a rendition of ‘Nzabampari’ and ‘Wari urihehe’. Her performance featured the traditional drums from Burundi.Mico ‘The Best’ Prosper was the second to perform belting out ‘Ubaho’ and ‘Umutaka’.After the two opening performances, the MC Lion Imanzi made a surprise introduction of the newly unveiled 50cl Primus bottle.A limousine containing a briefcase with the new sleek bottles and their content delivered it to the stage, sending the crowd into pandemonium. The 50cl bottle was officially unveiled on Friday.After the introduction of the all new Primus bottle, it was time for Kamichi to claim the stage impressively singing his popular "Ahoruzingiye” and "Ako kantu’ proving that he is the Afrobeat maestro.In between the performances, MC’s Anita Pendo and Tino did not disappoint as they entertained the crowd with their on-stage gimmicks.Eric Senderi ‘International hit’ then wowed the crowd with his hits including his latest ‘Nsomyaho’ and ‘Ndanyuzwe’ with the support of his glowing dancers. It was Dream boys’ turn, opting to introduce their performance with the highly controversial ‘Kanda Amazi’ before performing ‘data ninde’ and Mumutashye’.Dream Boys was followed by Danny Nanone who was backed up by a crew of dancers. He performed ‘Narya dance’ and ‘Ikirori’ to the delight of his fans.Urban boys jumped on stage smartly dressed in their grey tops and white trousers with an entourage of dancers, performing ‘Kelele’ and ‘Zana Inkwano’, pulling off their traditional ‘Lingala’ dance moves.Riderman then stormed the stage and stole the show with the whole audience getting on their feet when he performed Bombori Bombori and ‘Horo’. They danced and screamed ecstatically mesmerising the panel of judges too. The hip hop show did not stop with Fireman taking over from where Riderman had stopped. The Tuff Gangs man was followed by his compatriot Bulldog who performed ‘Likeri na Divai’ and ‘Ibya Mirenge’.After a series of hip hop performances, RnB latest favourite Christopher performed last to crown a wonderful afternoon. The Kina Music member did ‘Uwo munsi’ and ‘Habona’.All in all, the Rubavu road show proved to be a show of power by the contestants. The fans seemed to compete on who had the most placards and T-shirts with names and pictures of their favourite contestants.Some had even travelled from as far as Musanze to come and show support to their favourite artistes as the contest enters the crucial phase.Primus Guma Guma Superstar competition is an annual music contest organised by Bralirwa Ltd. The winner of the competition becomes Primus ambassador and receives Rwf24 million cash prize and more. The next event will be on Saturday July 28th at Serena hotel for the first elimination phase.
