INFLUENTIAL Burundian duo of Fuadi Ndayisenga and Karim Nizigiyimana a.k.a Mckenzie have ended exit talk and signed two-year new contracts with Primus league champions Rayon Sports.
The pair were on verge of signing for arch rivals SC Kiyovu on Friday when Gikundiro fan club whisked them away to Nyanza before putting pen to paper on Saturday night at Milles Collines Hotel in the presence of club chairman Mayor Abdallah Murenzi and team manager Thierry Hitimana.
Assistant skipper Ndayisenga said, "We are happy that our demands have been fulfilled. We are looking forward to help Rayon Sports win more accolades in the coming season.”
Mayor Murenzi said that after signing of the duo, the club now wants two more players to beef up their squad ahead of the pre-season training set for August 1.
"It’s a huge bonus for the players to extend their contracts. I’m sure the supporters are every bit as delighted as me. Rayon Sports is the best place for them to be and they realised that as well.”
"We now want two more players; a striker and a midfielder,” added Murenzi, the Mayor of Nyanza District. The pair enjoyed a terrific season in the just concluded 2012/13 league and will be looking to use that as a platform to enjoy more success this season.
The contract extension of the Burundians comes a week after two influential defenders Faustin Usengimana and Abouba Sibomana extended their contracts.
The Primus league champions who have a busy schedule next season have also renewed contracts for skipper Aphrodis Hategikimana and Kambale Salita and signed new players such as Djihad Bizimana, from Etincelles, Jean Claude Rwaka (La Jeunesse), Arafat Serugendo (Mukura) and goalkeeper Jean Luc Ndayishimiye from APR.
Rayon Sports will represent Rwanda at next year’s Africa Champions League and Cecafa Kagame club championship.
