If you know how static Kigali’s nightlife can mean to get, then you also know how refreshing it is to hear of a new themed event in town. This time round, it’s the Muhima-based Club Next that is leading the way. What Club Next is bringing, come Saturday, July 27, is a theme party that has been dubbed the Traffic Lights Party Summer Edition.Why they chose to associate the event with traffic lights is not very clear, since Muhima is not particularly known for heavy traffic. But what the heck? This is a party, and a party is a party.But over to the more serious issue of what to expect at the Traffic Lights Party Summer Edition: primarily the party has two spins to it; the entertainment (DJ mixes and live performances), and a dress theme.For the music, expect to catch live performances from local acts such as the duo Two 4Real, the lads behind the Kanda Amazi hit, and upcoming female singer, Jodie.There will be even more DJs working the turn tables: Some of the DJs lined up are Nano, who has made a name out of hosting the "House Party” VJ Mix on RTV on Friday nights, Nyce and Dj Pius.But the headlining act is the celebrated club jockey, Shiru from Kampala, Uganda. Nicknamed the "Spin Doctor”, Shiru will be the "main star of the night”, according to Remmy Lubega, proprietor of RG-Consult, the organisers of the event.The other attraction at the party is the colour theme. Party-goers will be expected to turn up decked in red, yellow or green. And all the colours have a purpose. Dress in red to mean that you are taken, yellow to mean that you are "open-minded” or "it’s complicated”, and in green if you are single."It’s going to be the first of its kind in Kigali – a theme dress party with glamour, fashion and music,” says Remmy, adding: "The event is open to even those who may not go by the theme colours but want to see how fashionable Rwandans can be.” The party kicks off at 7pm, and at Rwf5,000, one will party till dawn.
