Theoneste Nsengimana is aiming to stage a remarkable performance at the IPC World Paralympic Championship due in Lyon, France from July 21-28.The 25-year old athlete who will compete in 1500m will be vying for a silverware at the same venue were he snatched the qualification to this event last year.Last year, he had a torrid time during the Paralympic Games held in London after finishing 7th, clocking 4minutes, 8 seconds and 83 microseconds.However, with the experience gained, Nsengimana believes he has what it takes to win a medal this year. Prior to his departure on Wednesday, he said "Taking part in the Paralympic games last year exposed me to different things that have managed to improve my career. I have trained for a whole month and I want to give my all and ensure that I win a medal in the championship,”"Besides winning a medal, I am also targeting to improve my personal best time. I clocked 4minutes and 8seconds in the Paralympics last year and I want to atleast knock off eight seconds and set a new record,” added Nsengimana.Apart from Nsengimana, Rwanda’s medal hopes lie in African record holder Hermas Cliff Muvunyi. The APR athlete holds the record for the fastest African Paralympian over 400m after clocking 49.75secs at the 2012 London Paralympics Games. He has since improved his time to 48.49 in 400m and 1 minute and fifty four seconds in 800m respectively.
