THE 2013 Peace Cup champions AS Kigali has completed signing of seven players in bid to boost the club’s strength ahead of next year’s busy and competitive football schedule.The club has signed former Etincelles and APR striker Eric Serugaba from SC Kiyovu for one year deal, David Nzabanita [Bugesera], Rodrigue Murengezi [SC Kiyovu], Eugene Habyarimana, Anderson Neza, Ratif Bishira, all from Isonga, Allen Pappy Mbarushimana [Etoile d’Est] AND goalkeeper Regis Ingabire from Mukura, all on two-year contracts.AS Kigali Head Coach Andrew Gasambungo said, "We have signed these players in a bid to increase the strength of the club. They are good players and I hope they will be of great value to us in the upcoming busy competitive season,”After a season in which they climbed from 9th to 6th position and also won the Peace Cup - the first time they have a won a trophy in 14 years – Gasambungo now wants the team among top three position next season.The former Sec Academy coach, who is credited for nurturing the talents of Amavubi players like Emery Bayisenge, Marcel Nzaora, Michel Rusheshangoga and Solomon Nisirikake, admits that next season’s Primus League will be too competitive.As the Peace cup winners, AS Kigali will represent Rwanda in the CAF Confederations Cup next season and Gasambungo says his team will go on a regional tour to garner some experience before the elite tournament starts.
