Editor,This is quite interesting! On the basis of what it says is credible, reliable and detailed information, the Government of Rwanda accuses Monusco – or at least its Force Intervention Brigade component; which is really the same thing as it is part of the same entity – of being in cahoots with the FDLR and providing close support to FDLR-infested FARDC in the war against M23, and Monusco claims it has no evidence of those accusations.

If it has now fully assumed the mantle of the French military and are in bed with the genocidal heirs of the ex-FAR and Interahamwe, then their days are really numbered. And to top it all, this is happening as Ban Ki-moon and the spokesman of the French UN mission of 1994, with a reputation for outspoken support of the Bagosora government, are now in Paris.Does this Secretary-General lack even the slightest sense of symbolic irony? Can he fail to see the symbolism in the fact that a UN whose force cut and run when Rwandans needed their protection most in 1994 is now in league with the heirs of the genocidaires it refused to protect Rwandans against then and that those killers are now shelling Rwanda under UN force protection?Mwene Kalinda, Kigali, RwandaReaction to the story, "Rwanda: UN brigade aiding FDLR-Congo alliance”, (The New Times, July 17)
