Choosing the kind of education your child must receive can be one of the most important and difficult decisions to make. I have observed the difference between girls who attend single schools and those who go to mixed schools. At whatever cost I will never take my daughter to a single-sex school.
Choosing the kind of education your child must receive can be one of the most important and difficult decisions to make. I have observed the difference between girls who attend single schools and those who go to mixed schools. At whatever cost I will never take my daughter to a single-sex school.Single sex schools are thought to be advantageous to learning because of the different learning styles of boys and girls and the fewer distractions caused by boys. However, when girls from single schools meet guys their expectations are always high; they think that all guys who talk to them are interested or want to vibe them. I watched how Yvonne, a friend of mine, changed when she transferred from a single school and joined the mixed school I studied in. She was known as a serious, brilliant and well-behaved girl but when she joined a mixed school everything changed. There wasn’t a single day she didn’t enter class without heavy make up, she wore the shortest skirt in school to attract every guy’s attention and she was always super excited when any guy in our class talked to her. With time she started performing badly and her characters changed from this reasonably, serious girl we used to know to a ‘hip-hopper’ type. She always had a guy she was crushing on and day dreaming about. This all because of the years she spent in this single school felt jail to her. Girls who go to single school and get locked in doors during holidays, when they get the opportunity of meeting guys whether in school, church or parties they really use the unusual opening and misbehave. Why would I bring up my daughter in single school after I have watched how it affected my friend? Education is not all about excelling in school and having knowledge of what is taught in class only. It’s also being open minded and knowing what this world wants in order not to be left behind. I would wish my daughter to treat her boyfriends like the way she can treat her girlfriends and to be aware that having a relationship with boys is not automatically love.I would educate my daughter and let her know the truth and reality about boys by watching her socialize and interact with them rather than taking her to this single school where she spends all her time with girls and when she meets boys she thinks they are distractions and temptations.
