Six people died on the spot this morning when a bus from Rusumo en route to Kigali collided head-on with a truck from heading to Tanzania. The fatal accident took place at Cyunuzi in Kirehe District, Eastern Province.

Twelve people, who sustained severe injuries, were immediately rushed to Kigali University Teaching Hospital (CHUK). They are in critical condition.

The District Police Commander, Superintendent (SP) Innocent Kagorora, has confirmed from survivors that the accident was caused by over-speeding.
