THE Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) has renewed the third term of Presidency for longtime leader Lassana Palenfo during the15th annual General Assembly held over the weekend in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Tommy Sithole, current International Olympic Committee (IOC) International Relations director, was elected as Secretary General a role that he served before he went to the IOC under the leadership of Dr. Jacques Rogge.Also elected were: 1st Vice President : Beraf Moustapha 2nd Vice President : Joao Manuel Da Costa Alegre Alfonso 3rd Vice President : Philippe Thyn Voon Hao Shun Ha 4th Vice-President : Matlohang Moiloa Ramoqopo.Rwanda was represented by the Olympic committee chairman Robert Bayigamba and vice president Phophina Gashugi.The meeting also promised to work hard in promoting African athletes so that they can perform well at future Olympic Games. The meeting observed that, though the African continent has many talented athletes, there are many things to be done to improve performance in the continent and one of them is for African Olympic Associations to share expertise and experiences. Bayi also said the meeting voted new office bearers of the association.
