Police are holding three men for allegedly stealing newsprint rolls from the printers of the state media, Orinfor.
The three, arrested Tuesday night, are now in custody at Kicukiro Police Station in Kigali.
A guard at the premises told the Police that he saw the suspects load "heavy stuff” onto a truck and when he inquired, they told him that they were taking the material to Orinfor’s new premises in Kacyiru where the state broadcaster is due to relocate to.
But the guard became suspicious and alerted Police who later found out that the suspects planned to sell the newsprint rolls to a local printing firm. One of those arrested works with the printing company in question. He denied any wrongdoing saying he had bought the rolls in a public auction.
If convicted, the three risk spending seven years in jail.
