THE national women team will make its debut in the African Under-19 Africa handball champions scheduled for August 31 to September 9 in Oyo, Congo Brazaville.The development was confirmed yesterday by Benoit Nyabutsitsi, the Permanent Secretary in Rwanda Handball Federation.He said, "We are going into the competitions as new entrants but we will be aiming to make a mark. We have a good and talented junior team and this will be a good platform to showcase their skills,”The tournament doubles as a qualification mark for the World Championships which will be held in Brazil. The semi finalists will all earn automatic slots for the global championship.The women team which won the Zone V tournament staged in Kigali in 2010 will come up against elite sides nations such as Tunisia, Congo Brazaville, Algeria, DR Congo, Central African Republic, Angola and Mali.Hosts Congo Brazaville are defending champions after lifting the 18th edition held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso in 2011.
