MUHANGA — Due to ill health, a Ugandan musician, Ziggy Dee, has called off his charity concerts which had been planned in several upcountry towns this week.

"The all-Rwanda tour will be postponed in the meantime because the Ugandan star has been attacked by severe malaria and he cannot perform anymore despite the medical attention. The tour will be continued later but for now the Live-Wire Crew has decided that he be sent back to Uganda,” a member of the Live-Wire Crew said.

Ziggy Dee arrived in Rwanda late last month ostensibly to promote young talent and enhance the music industry in the country. He also promised charity concerts to raise money for street children.

Ziggy Dee and his Live-Wire Crew had on on June 27 and July 4  performed in Gitarama and Kayonza district on (liberation day) respectively. He was set to perform in Butare and Kigali later.

Many young artists in Rwanda had already started benefiting from the Ugandan star’s presence with some shooting music videos and recording new songs with his help.

Ziggy Dee is the first Ugandan artist to stage live concerts in the upcountry towns.
