Rayon Sport have suffered a last minute blow after defender Aimable Rucogoza endured a suspected dislocated shoulder, the team flew out yesterday with Kenya Airways without their master medicine man.

The defender is best remembered for his juju antics during the just concluded Peace Cup semi final defeat at the hands of Atraco. 

The bad news came just a day before the team’s departure to this year’s Cecafa/Kagame Club Championship in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.

The U-20 national team skipper collided with goalkeeper Lawrence Webo during Wednesday morning training session at Remera artificial turf.

Rayon head coach Raoul Shungu confirmed the injury to Times Sport yesterday, "He fell on his shoulder but we can’t leave him out of the traveling squad. We will take him and hope that recovers in time for the rest of the tournament but certainly he’ll miss the game against URA,” Shungu said.

Initially, the Blues were expected to travel to Dar es Salaam on Wednesday along with APR but there was some trouble with players demanding for their unpaid salaries before making the trip.

According to the club’s Secretary General Farouk Nduhumwe, Rayon delegations will travel in batches from Nairobi to Dar es Salaam after failing to get direct connection from Nairobi to Dar es Salaam.”

In 1998 during Raoul Shungu first spell in charge, Rayon became the first Rwandan club to win regional club championship held in Zanzibar.
