Rwandan international winger Djabir Mutarambirwa has signed for Premier League side police FC from rivals SC Kiyovu on a two-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2015.
The 29-year-old, who played for the 13-time champions APR from 2006 to 2009 before signing for Atraco FC (defunct) till their demise in 2010,is joining his former coach (at Atraco) Sam Ssimbwa, who was appointed Police head coach a month ago.
The temperamental right winger not only reunites with his old coach but also the former Atraco FC president, Colonel Louis Twahira (Dodo), who took over as Police chairman last month.
Mutarambirwa becomes the club’s second major signing of the transfer window following the arrivals of striker Emmanuel ‘Crespo’ Sebanani, who crossed from Mukura last week.
"The two players (Djabil and Crespo) are officially ours, they started training with their team mates on Tuesday,” confirmed Police’s assistant coach Jean Paul Kalisa.
He added, "We are in advanced talks with other players (names withheld), who we expect to sign before Saturday when the head coach (Ssimbwa) returns from Sudan where he was with (his former club) Express FC for the CECAFA Kagame Cup.”
