APR and Simba are fighting to sign Faustin Usengimana, whose contract with Rayon Sport ended on July 1 therefore rendering him a free man.

The 2012-13 league champions, Rayon Sports still want to extend his contract by another two years but it appears the former U17 center back has had his head turned by probably better offers from Tanzanian giants SC Simba as well as 13-time Rwandan champions, APR, who are reported to have already struck the initial deal.

The promising defender is free to sign for any club of his choice, but according to Rayon Sports chairman and also the Mayor of Nyanza District, Abdallah Murenzi, Usengimana has to make up his mind whether to stay or look for greener pastures elsewhere.

"We gave him a very good offer before the team left for Sudan and we are still waiting for him to come back to us with his response. If he wants we are ready for more negotiations because we want to renew his contract, but he is free to talk to anyone,” Murenzi told Times Sport on Wednesday.

According to the Tanzania media the player could sign for Simba in a few days. "He’s coming anytime now. He cannot return to Rwanda. He will  directly come to Dar es Salaam for signing a contract with Simba,” a member of the Registration Committee for SC Simba told Tanzanian newspaper, Mwanza Sport.

Usengimana admitted that he has talked to many clubs but he has not agreed with anyone, "I am a Rayon Sports player and I can extend my contract if our talks go well but if not I will join the team which gives me a good offer,” he said from Khartoum.

"I am a footballer, who wants to earn something big in this game so I will join the club, which gives me a good offer, because I do it for myself and my family so I will see, which is best for me,” he said.
