KHARTOUM - Rwandan clubs APR and Rayon Sports are among four regional clubs which are stranded in Khartoum following political unrest in Cairo, Egypt which has forced Kenya Airways to cancel its flights according to Cecafa Secretary General Nicholas Musonye.

The Cecafa secretariat and hosts Sudan Football Association booked all Cecafa teams on Kenya Airways flight which operates daily to Cairo via Khartoum.

But a political crisis in Egypt where protesters continue to demand the resignation of President Mohamed Morsi has affected the Kenya carrier thus canceling all their flights.

"All flights to Cairo via Khartoum have been canceled and Kenya Airways is sending small planes to carry people from Khartoum and all teams and officials can’t go at once,”

"Rwandan clubs will leave Khartoum on July 7 and 8 respectively. We [Cecafa officials] are experiencing the same problems too,” Musonye said.

Earlier Wednesday, they were speculations that Cecafa and hosts Sudan Football Association had not settled return air fares for all the teams but Musonye refuted that claim.
