Rwanda Tennis Federation in partnership with Rwanda Development Bank (BRD) is organising the Liberation Day tournament that started on Monday and ends on Thursday at Amahoro stadium tennis courts.Rwanda Development Bank, which is the brain behind the tournament, has been sponsoring the annual event since the first edition in 2009.This year’s tournament attracted up to 80 players divided into two categories namely; professional singles’ (men and women) and doubles amateurs’ category (men and women).According to Aimable Mugarura, one of the organisers and an official of Remera tennis club, "This tournament is so important because it reminds us how far we have come in the journey of liberating our country, not only politically but in various aspects of life.”The men’s top seed Jean-Claude Gasigwa in the professional category and the women’s top-ranked player, Gisele Umumararungu won last year’s edition.
