Rayon Sports coach Didier Gomez da Rosa has called on his players to keep alive their winning spirit, for, they are now just two wins away from a second Cecafa Kagame Club Championship title. The Rwanda league champions take on tricky customers and champions of Burundi, Vital’O in the second semi-final on Saturday at Al Fasher main stadium. The Blues, who last won the regional club title way back in 1998 when it was held in Mwanza, edged out Uganda Revenue Authority 3-2 on Thursday, in a game which was played amid stifling humidity at Al Nugga stadium. However, Gomez told Saturday Sport yesterday that he doesn’t expect his player to use fatigue and or any other reason as an excuse for failure to reach the final. "We are facing a Vital’O team, which plays a similar game to ours but we have to find a way to overcome them if we are to reach the final. We’re quite confident about our chances of making it on Saturday,” said the Frenchman. He added, "It’s a different match, but the players would have had a fair rest after putting in so much effort in the quarter-final against the Ugandan team. The players are well aware of our mission, which is to win the title.” Gomez will be without midfielder Leandre Sekamana, who is out with an ankle injury but left full back Donatien Tuyizere, who missed the last through suspension, returns to the fray. The coach will be hoping that the magic combination of striker Kambale Salita and midfielder-cum-striker Cedric Amissi can do the job against a dangerous Vital’O side that thrashed Ports 6-0 in the last round. The duo has five goals apiece and is tied with Vital’O’s Amissi Tambwe as the tournament top scorers.Coach Gilbert ‘Yaounde’ Kanyankole expects a tough game but he is unmoved. "It is a tough game but both sides know each other very well and I hope the best team will win.” The winner will play in the final set for July 1 at Al Fasher stadium.
