Accountability: What went wrong with 63% of public entities?

Editor,I don’t absolutely think that 37 percent is a reason to celebrate. The Auditor General should invite the media and share his findings to the fourth estate as well. What about the 63 percent, where and why did they go wrong? How can we make sure that they work on their weaknesses?

Editor,I don’t absolutely think that 37 percent is a reason to celebrate. The Auditor General should invite the media and share his findings to the fourth estate as well. What about the 63 percent, where and why did they go wrong? How can we make sure that they work on their weaknesses? It is great that there is an improvement in how public resources are managed, however, as a taxpayer, I am not impressed by the numbers. I would not like to apportion blame as in procurement there are instances where the procedures may work against tasks being accomplished efficiently and this may answer the funds spent without efficient documentation. But to clear the air, the Auditor General should be available to dissect this report and together promote a higher level of accountability. We can do better. Beth Mwiza, Kigali, RwandaReaction to the story, "MPs applaud public funds management”, (The New Times, June 27)
