Hakiza Paul a.k.a Ceiz-P, the president and founder of Red-G a hip-hop music group that started in May 2003, believes he is on a path to success. Hakiza and the group of five have decided to make music their engine to life’s success.
"In my life I had loved music and had a dream of becoming one of the most popular artists here in Rwanda and East Africa at large”, says Ceiz-p.
He later decided to set up a dancing group known as X-guys composed of Ray-Q, Pacson, Dopeman , Kar-Ew which danced and mimed.
At this time, they were popularly known as the Hit- Squad. On many occasions, they would be invited to dance and rap in public places.
They took Kigali by surprise after merging with Ray-Q and sung a hip-hop song known as ‘’bash thang’’. Timely, as hip-hop was on the rise here in Kigali.
Hip-hop had just hit Rwanda’s music scene and all the hip-hop artists were making their first songs. More exciting was the opening up of the air-waves with private Radio Stations introduced to promote local artists. Since that time, the Red-G has not looked back making history with much fame countrywide.
"Back in high school, many students could approach us for advice on how to upgrade their lyrics, rhymes and how they could get to the studio to get their songs done. Today they see a move towards success in the group”, says a proud Ceiz-P.
Later, Ray and Ceiz-P met different artists who include Ceddy Dog, D.P.G and Ghost who had similar talents and joined them. Because of the fame that they gained, they signed a contract with Amazina.
The group continued to make different shows in different areas such as Musanze, Fawe Girls School along side Inyamibwa Theatre Troupe, Esa Nyarugunga, Cultural Centre and Amahoro Stadium in the 2005 Music Extravaganza (Tuwukate).
The RED-G continued working with Jay-P as their producer and was forced to hustle hard and set up their own studio.
