The Rwandan talent search, otherwise known as DundaStar Talent Search 2013 enters the semi-final stage this weekend.Hundreds of hopefuls were whittled down to 15 for the Dundastar semi-finals, with each contestant vying for a recording contract with one of the country’s leading music studios and the chance to perform at the grand finale slated for July 27 at Petite Stade Remera.The competition will be held on Saturday, June 29, at Papyrus Bar and Lounge in Kimihurura. The finalists are Snippers, Krest Crew, Jaba Junior, Sick City, Hunters Younkies Crew, Axel, Yvan Selector and Jean Luck Dance Crew. Hopefuls in the singing category are Malia Carine Uwamahoro, Teeta, Rachel and Khloe.According to the organisers, only three contestants in both categories will be selected for the finals.In an interview, Robert Ndungutse of DundaStar Talent Search told The New Times, "We are selecting the best three in each category that will compete at the finals.”The Saturday event will start at 9 am.The second edition of Dundastar started in October with auditions in three Kigali districts, Gasabo, Nyarugenge and Kicukiro.The talent search is organised by Rwandans to promote local talent. "We want to turn upcoming artistes into superstars,” said Ndungutse.
