President Paul Kagame has arrived in Kampala to join his counterparts Yoweri Museveni of Uganda and Kenya’s Uhuru Kenyatta for trilateral talks in Entebbe aimed at promoting trade in the region.
According to Ofwono Opondo, the Executive Director of the Uganda Media Centre, the tripartite meeting between the three Heads of State will focus on making the business environments in the three countries more friendly.
"Clearly, there are no security problems between Rwanda and Uganda or Kenya and Rwanda…it is all about discussing joint trade ventures,” Opondo told The New Times.
This will be Kenyatta's first state visit to his country’s biggest trading partner since he took over leadership in Kenya in May this year.
At a press conference later today, the leaders are also expected to discuss the planned construction of a joint oil pipeline that would connect different countries in the region.
