Last year’s winners APE Rugunga and Solidarity Academy retained the boys’ and girls’ inter-schools football titles over the weekend in Muhanga, South province.APE Rugunga, also last year’s East African post-primary games (FEASSA) semifinalists, eased to wins over Nyanza-based COST 2-1, GS Gatagara 2-1 and ESIG 2-0 respectively.And after the final match, the school headmaster Saidon Christian said, "We are very happy to retain the title, now our attention turns to FEASSA games.”  This year’s regional inter-schools games are to be hosted in Gulu, Northern Uganda late this year.Solidarity Academy, who reached the final at last year’s FEASSA  games in Bujumbura, and managed by AS Kigali women football club head coach Grace Nyinawumuntu, retained the girls’ title after beating Remera-Rukoma and ESIR 4-1, 10-0 respectively and drawing 0-0 with Kabuga-based APAER.Boys’ volleyball category finals did not take place due to the absence of key players for the semifinalist schools, who are part of the Under-19 national team that is due to take part in this year’s World Youth Championship slated for June 27-July 7 in Mexico. The semifinalists are Groupe Scolaire Officiel de Butare, Rusumo high school, Saint Joseph Kabgayi and Lycee de Nyanza.Other winners included; Lycee de Kigali in boys’ basketball, E.S Kigoma in boys’ handball, E.T Mukingi in rugby, APE Rugunga in girls’ basketball, G.S Indangaburezi in girls’ volleyball, ET Mukingi in girls’ handball and GS Gahini in netball.
