AL FASHER. Newly appointed Police FC coach Sam Ssimbwa is in Darfur to give technical support to his former club Express in a bid to help the Ugandan champions win the Cecafa Kagame Club Championship underway in Al Fasher, North Darfur."I am here to help Express win the tournament. My bosses in Kigali know I am in Darfur and I am looking forward to helping them (Express FC) in whatever way I can,” Ssimbwa told Times Sport on Sunday. He added, "I will officially begin my work in Kigali next month and that’s when I will be able to know the capacity of my team (Police FC) because right now, I don’t know any player.” Recently, the ex-Uganda Cranes assistant coach was quoted in the Daily Times of Nigeria as saying that he is determined to improve Rwanda’s Police FC both locally and at continental level."I have coached in Rwanda before with Atraco FC (2006), but I am now much more experienced and know what is required for a team to be on top,” said Ssimbwa. The Ugandan took over from Serbian Goran Kopunovic whose contract has not been renewed. Ssimbwa’s first task will be to improve the team in the local Primus League where they finished second last season. The former Cranes international is credited with winning the League trophy with Express FC in the 2011-12 season and the Uganda Cup twice with Mbale Heroes (2009) and Express FC (2007).Ssimbwa said he would have to strengthen his squad as he bids to wrestle the league title from Rayon Sports."I am happy to be back in active football because coaching is my passion and it’s one thing I know I do well enough,” stated the man, who during his short spell with Atraco, was nicknamed Mourinho by local fans.
