Five people have expressed their interest to stand for the president of Rwanda football federation, Ferwafa, in the elections set for September, Times Sport has learnt.The candidates include; the interim president Celestin ‘Abega’ Ntagungira, his deputy Raoul Gisanura Ngenzi , Sports Empowerment Academy (SEC) chairman Augustin Munyandamutsa, former APR FC secretary general, Degole Nzabamwita and ex-Kiyovu chairman, Jean Daniel Mbanda.According to a reliable source, who is privy to the information but did not want to be named because he is not allowed to speak to the media on behalf of Ferwafa, this year’s election promises to be the toughest in years because of the number of candidates."But it is good as we will have competition in these elections, unlike before when we used to have only one candidate standing,” he stated.He revealed that some of the candidates, despite having not been approved by the federation’s general assembly, have hit the campaign trail already.Maj Gen Jean Bosco Kazura replaced Lt. Gen. Caesar Kazura in 2006 before Ntanungira took over the reign on an interim basis, following the shock resignation of Gen. Kazura in 2010.
