Rwandan representatives APR and Rayon Sports will face Ugandan giants URA and Express FC in the quarter-finals of this year’s Cecafa Kagame Club Championship which starts on Wednesday.Rayon Sports powered into the last eight after hitting 10-man Ports of Djibouti 4-1 in yesterday’s final Group B match played at Al Fasher stadium.Midfielder cum striker Cedric Amissi hit a hattrick and Kambale Salita netted the other to help the Rwandan league champions end their horrible start to the competition.The Blues conceded after just eight minutes when Burundian Fabrice Manirambona looped the advancing keeper Gerard Bikorimana to send Ports into an early lead.However, Didier Gomez da Rosa’s team reorganised and equalised through a superb freekick by last season league top scorer Amissi on stroke of half time. After the break, referee Hashim Adam Ahmed sent off Ports skipper Kader Abass Abaneh for unsporting behavior.Amissi scored two more goals in the 63rd and 67th minute to take his tally in the competition to four goals. Kambale sealed the emphatic win with an 87th minute strike from Leandre Sekamana’s cross.The win earned Rayon Sports second place in Group B with four points, a point behind leaders Express who snatched a 1-all draw agaisnt Elect Sport of Chad at Al Nugga stadium. That means, the two Rwandan teams can not meet until the final.In the quarter-finals, Rayon Sports will face Uganda Revenue Authority, who finished second in Group C on Thursday, while Express who topped their group will face three-time champion APR on Wednesday.Ports of Djibouti, who finished in Group B, will take on Vital’O, while home side El Merreikh El Fasher will face Al Ahly Shandy of Sudan after they topped Group C with four points.Elman of Somalia, Elect Sport of Chad and Al Hilal Kadougli were eliminated from the tournament after finishing bottom of their respective groups.
