Rwandan comedy fans are in for a treat as East Africa’s leading comedians return to Kigali on June 28 – 29 in what promises to be two unforgettable shows at the Expo Grounds and Kigali Serena Hotel, respectively.Uganda’s Anne Kansiime, Patrick Idringi Salvador, Eric Muhangi, and Naboth Fisher a.k.a M7, will join Kenya’s comedy siblings Eric and Fred Omondi and locals Arthur Nkusi and Ronnie Nsengiyumva, to entertain us with an overdose of comedy.It’s the second time the Kings of Comedy, now dubbed ‘MTN Kings of Komedy’ are performing in town, following the massive Carwash show on March 29. "The last time I was in Kigali, I gave a quarter of what I can deliver on stage. I can guarantee that the people of Rwanda will enjoy the best of comedy, that is all I can promise,” said Salvador ahead of the two shows."Watch your space really, it will be bloody,” warns hilarious Kansiime of the ‘Minibuzz’ fame.Comedy fans cannot wait for this week’s shows. "I am really buzzed and can’t wait for the show,” said Annette Rusaro, a comedy fan. "I missed their previous show because I wasn’t in Kigali but this time I am so much around. My favourite is Anne Kansiime and I have watched some of her clips on YouTube.”According to the organisers, Glam Investments Ltd, the ‘MTN Kings of Komedy’ show will be taking place after every two months, featuring regional and continental comedians."Our target is to bring one big comedian from the continent along with all leading comedians from the East African region. Our objective is to bring the best comedy to Kigali. We realised the people of Kigali were missing out on comedy,” says Eric Mugisha of Glam Investments.The New Times Publications, Skol, Bank Populaire du Rwanda, Air Uganda, Kigali Serena Hotel, Nakumatt, KK Security and Pergamon Group are sponsoring the shows.Tickets for the June 28 Expo Ground show go for Rwf5, 000, while the VIP tickets will be sold at Rwf10, 000. Tickets can be bought at both Nakumatt stores (UTC & KCT).
